Master of Education in Communications, Education & Technology

The Programme examines the relationship between communications, education and technology. It explores theories of mass communication, the influence of communications technology on values, attitudes and behaviour and the use of media in informal, non-formal and formal education contexts.

Information and communication technologies (ICTs) are treated as an international phenomenon and students are expected to reflect on the structures and usage in their personal experience and professional practices.

Learning from shared experience is a feature of the programme. Students also explore the relationship between theory and practice. Each course unit is carefully structured but gives scope to pursue topics of personal interest.

While the details of individual students’ programmes of study will vary, they may include the following areas

  • the increasing globaliasation of communication technologies;
  • mass communications technology systems;
  • video production;
  • new development in communications technology;
  • the design and delivery of educational presentations;
  • theory and practice of distance education;
  • use of computer based media for educational purposes;
  • the analysis of public education and health campaigns;
  • education and the internet;
  • web design;
  • educational broadcasting;
  • approaches to communication training;
  • communication in groups and organisations;
  • cross-cultural patterns of communication;
  • non-verbal communication.

The programme team look forward to working with you and hope your time at the University will be both profitable and enjoyable.  We are here to help you.  Please contact us if you need to.
