Master of Education in Communications, Education & Technology

Students who attended the programme 2001 - 2002: Their comments

Panos from Greece
As I am greatly interested in Media Studies and Educational Technology Research I decided to attend a University of Manchester course leading to the M.Ed in 'Communications, Education & Technology'.

This course enhanced my knowledge and skills in Media Education, New Media and Interactivity and Media Research with emphasis on Qualitative Content Analysis. I gained experience in giving oral presentations, in writing reports, working in groups, and using and developing Computer and Media software.

I am so glad that I decided to attend this taught M.Ed course. It was an invaluable experience.

Lilan from China
What is most impressive in this programme is the way the teachers conduct the course. What really counts in this course in not only the subject matter, but also the personal and professional development of each student. The learning process is one from which I have learned how to learn independently and confidently.

For me, it is not merely a course or a programme which needs pesistent effort, but also an opportunity to acquire lifelong learning skills which will benefit both myself and my students.

Jennie from the UK
The MEd Communications, Education and technology course has not just equipped me with better interpersonal and communication skills, but has also improved my time management and made me more confident in tackling not just academic work but career work too.

The tutors are fantastic and always available to listen to any problems and it's great having contact with students from all over the world who take the course.

Fanney from Iceland
Taking part in the course Communications, Education and Technology has given me a very valuable experience. I was impressed with the way the course was taught by using the experiential learning approach. This is something I would like to adopt in my own teaching.

This course is unique because people from all over the world share their ideas, experiences and cultural issues. This has provided me with new ideas but also changed the way I look at different things.

Before coming to Manchester I was a primary school teacher in Iceland, but now I see the opportunities to widen my career and take on further studies in this field of education.

Apart from academic experiences, Manchester is full of life and it has been a year to remember.

Liu from China
This is an excellent course. It has enhanced my knowledge and skills in communications and educational technology theoretically and practically. By completing the course, I have learned to find the balance between media and education techniques and interpersonal communication skills, which I believe will benefit both my career and my life. The tutors are always supportive and encouraging, I have learned from them how to communicate with students.
