Hindmarch, Freelance Counsellor, Supervisor & Trainer, This course is designed for would-be supervisors in the field of counselling, therapy and the helping professions. It is not a qualification in supervision, but rather an introduction to the key requirements for beginning the supervisory role. Experienced practitioners are often asked to take on a supervisory role without appropriate training. In particulate the is course will be useful to those who wish to pursue a supervision training course, but are cautious about taking on supervisees without some basic preparation for safe practice. Over the two days, the following areas will be covered:-
Attendance requirements: course participants need to be experienced practitioners in their field, with a suggested minimum of two years post-qualified practice. It is anticipated that some participants will make a natural progression from this two-day course to the Postgraduate Certificate in Supervision at this University, which prepares for BACP accreditation. CRITICAL INCIDENT SUPPORT Tutor: Celia Hindmarch,
Honorary Tutor, BA, Cert. Couns. This one day course is designed for counsellors, therapists, and other helping professionals who may be called on to provide psychological support for those suffering post-traumatic stress. Critical incidents resulting in such stress range from private tragedy to public disaster.
In addressing these questions, the day's programme will include:
'AN INTRODUCTION TO THE TRANSPERSONAL IN COUNSELLING AND THERAPY' Tutor: Mike Poulter
This course is intended for qualified counsellors and counsellors in training at diploma level. Some of the techniques common to Transpersonal Psychology, such as Guided Fantasy and Visualisation, are familiar to counsellors as methods of achieving relaxation and coping with stress. However, there is a shortfall of coverage of how the processes available in transpersonal work can be used at a more personal level to acquire insights, meanings and change for both self-development and for clients in counselling and therapy. This workshop addresses the gap by demonstrating through theoretical input, discussion, story telling and experiential work, how the language of transpersonal psychology - imaging - may be used in such contexts. The key approaches of Jung and Assagioli are seminal to the course. SATURDAY DAY SCHOOL - ‘Cross Cultural Counselling’ Date: Saturday,
8th May 2004 COUNSELLING, SPIRITUALITY AND RELIGION Tutors: Henry Hollanders
Ph.D. and William West Ph.D. At best both religion and psychotherapy are about
the personal and inward journey towards development, individuation and
wholeness, together with all the implications of that for relationships
with others and with the world. At worst they either prevent the journey
from being undertaken or hinder the traveller on her/his way. During these
two days, we will be exploring the boundaries of psychotherapy, religion
and spirituality and the pathways between them. |
