Language and Literacy Studies

Sonia Slatery

Sonia Slattery teaches on the PGCE course for Modern Foreign
Languages. She is an experienced secondary school teacher and
has worked in a diverse range of school settings, including
selective, single-sex and urban multiracial schools. Her doctoral
thesis centred upon secondary level provision for the teaching of
Community languages and her research interests continue to focus
upon educational provision for minority groups within culturally
and linguistically diverse communities.

Current research projects:

Working with Professor G. K. Verma :
EU Funded project - Dual Citizenship, Governance and Education.
ELECTRA Project - Intercultural communication for teachers. Project involved the development of a web-based learning resource for teachers.
